Woking Busiest Shop (Specsavers) has moved to a quieter part of the Town. What happens next?
Dr. Michael Oon
From my visits to Woking Town Centre, I have noticed that the busiest store in Woking is the Specsavers. The original store was located in Mercia Walk. To cope with the demand from the number of customers or patients, the owners expanded the store upstairs. Two flights of stairs connected the new consultations rooms.
Every time I visited the store for my eye check-up, there was a non-stop queue of people that needed to be attended.
I reasoned that not only did Specsavers give exceptionally good service, but it was on Mercia Walk where the main bulk of energy in the town centre flowed. This energy flowed to Town Square.
Based on Feng Shui, where there is more energy flow, the better the outcome for the businesses. Specsavers was in an exceptionally good position to pick up this energy flow.
However, Specsavers Woking decided that they need new and larger premises. They made the decision to move. They have moved to Central Square.
Central Square in Wolsey Walk has a chequered history. It is a quieter part of Wolsey Walk, and there have been several store closures in Central Square.
I went there for my eye check-up earlier this month, I did not see any queue but customers did come in. I was shocked. I never saw this in Specsavers Woking - I saw staff tidying up the place. It was so different to the previous store where staff were rushed off their feet.
We shall see how this new location does for Specsavers Woking.
