Is Feng Shui Eastern Mumbo Jumbo?
Dr. Michael Oon
"Eastern Mumbo Jumbo" Is it relevant to the people in the modern society in the West?
Feng Shui developed some 40 centuries ago with the rise of the Chinese civilisation. It is about understanding how nature works and maximising it for the benefit of the people. It is about being able to get a better living in the environment.
Feng Shui is still being used effectively in this modern age of the 21st Century. Corporations are using it successfully; small businesses are using it to expand their business, and people are using it to improve their quality of life.
Feng Shui is a Chinese study of the various environmental factors that affect human habitation. The only topic of study in the West which considers the environment assisting or aiding the living is the "Terroir" – the environmental factors that affect the growth of grapevines for the production of wine.
Feng Shui is used not only in China and the Far East; it is now used in the West (Europe, North America and Australia).
The Chinese, with their earlier start to continuous civilisation, has a number of inventions that are in common use today – paper, porcelain, the compass, fireworks/heavy artillery, noodles/pasta, printing, bureaucracy or government, to name a few. We use these inventions because it adds to our lives.
It is even more relevant today as we are living in a fast-paced society. It is not only getting more crowded and but there is increasing pollution which affects the well-being of the people.
