Feng Shui in the Kitchen – Mirrors

A mirror reflects an object and produces another image. In other words, it is doubling the object by producing a reflective image.

In Feng Shui, it is used as a tool to double up. It is quick, easy and cheap.

For example, if you have an auspicious object and you want to double up on it, you use a mirror. When you use it in an Auspicious Room, like a room filled with Energy, the effect of the mirror is even greater.

However, when you use to reflect an inauspicious object, the mirror doubles up on the inauspicious object with the reflected image. This effect is even greater when it is in an inauspicious room or an Energy draining room like a kitchen or bathroom.

Mirrors in the Kitchen

  1. Energy Draining Room.

A kitchen is a room where energy drains away. Water drains away in the kitchen sink, water-using equipment like dishwasher and washing machines.

2. Energy Imbalance

The room is also unbalanced with strong heat-producing equipment like cookers with naked flames or hot electric elements. They are extremely yang objects

3. Fire and Water Elements clashing

The water in the kitchen sink and the Fire of the cookers clash.

4. The Mirror is a Water Element

Placing a mirror in the kitchen is like adding more of the Water element to the Fire element in the kitchen which adds to the clash of the Elements.

Based on these reasons, Feng Shui does not recommend the use of mirrors in the kitchen.

There is one school of thought, a mirror is placed near the stove so that the person cooking can see what is happening behind. Based on the above reason, I would not recommend this as it is like inviting more and unnecessary trouble.
