Feng Shui Formulae
Dr. Michael Oon
Feng Shui in Formula are packaged methods. Essentially, they are shortcuts to apply the “principles” of feng shui.
It is certainly very attractive – just apply the formula, and you get the claimed “result” of being “feng shuied”.
It is very user friendly - It is easy to teach, easy to learn and easy to apply.
But, are there any drawbacks?
- The basic structure of Feng Shui includes these tenets:
- Yin and Yang
- The five elements and their respective cycles – productive and destructive cycles
- Lo Shu Square
- Pa Kua
- The flow of Energy (Chi).
If you practise feng shui using these tenets, you know you will get the results. They are set in stone. There are traditional feng shui practitioners who just use these fundamental tenets.
Analogy: You purchase food for your meal. You can buy the best natural ingredients to cook your meal. You know:
- what has gone into the food
- the quality of the ingredients
- how fresh the ingredients are
Formula Feng Shui is like ready meals from the supermarket or stores
When you purchase a ready meal, it is convenient, and it is packaged as ready to eat. What you do not know are:
- Are there ingredients not included in the label?
- What are the effects of the additives and preservatives?
The quality of the ingredients?
Do you know how fresh the original ingredients were when the food was cooked? I know the meal is frozen and has a date stamp on it. But we do not know all the ingredients? Even if it is labelled, do we know the effects of preservatives, artificial food colouring, food thickeners, corn syrup, artificial sweeteners, trans fat, artificial flavouring, flavour boosters? Do you know what the E numbers mean?
Eating out in Restaurants:
The food is prepared so that it can attract the clientele so that it can remain in business. The main aim of the restaurant is to get a constant stream of clients rather than the welfare of the clients. I am not always confident of the ingredients used in the preparation of the dish. A restaurant was fined £7,500 for claiming it was using organic produce, but it was just ordinary produce. There have been deaths from allergy (anaphylactic shock) even though allergen lists are compulsory in the UK. This is just one tragic example.
Quality of information.
When I was training to do casework at the Metropolitan Police Forensic Science Laboratory, “Always check on the credibility of the initial information before you start any work”. Question it if you are not happy before proceeding. This procedure was not followed fully in Operation Midland where the investigators accepted the information provided by the informant (Nick), who was making false claims on the good and great of British Society. Nick or Carl Beech was sentenced to 18 years of imprisonment. The Police service was severely reprimanded for the unnecessary embarrassment it caused to its victims in the 18-month investigation.
My Objectives:
In this section, I will go through the origins of each feng shui formula and show you how the authors intend the formula to be applied.
My point is, the closer you are to the source of information, the better the efficacy of your Feng Shui practice. Needless to say, better results.
The point I am trying to make is. When you use a formula, what is the origin? Does it fit the basic structure of feng shui and the Chinese 5 Arts.
- Does it have Yin and Yang properties?
- Does it have the Lo Shu square?
- Does it involve the 5 elements and their cycles?
- Does it involve the BaGua?
- Does it involve the flow of Energy (chi)?
Are there any contradictions in the formula that does not make sense?
With so much disinformation floating around, perhaps this is a useful way to distinguish the truth from fake?
I will do my best to explain the origin of the actual formulae.
