Feng Shui in the Dining Room - lighting
Dr. Michael Oon
The requirements for lighting in the Dining Room has a significant variation.
On the one hand, you need the room to be bright, and then there is mood lighting – soft and mellow.
Full lighting:
Most houses now are fitted with ceiling lights. The lights have LED bulbs, are recessed and able to be fully dimmed. These light up the whole room brightly.
Mood lighting
This can be achieved either with the dimming of the ceiling lights that can hang directly over the dining room table. Candles are another way to achieve this effect.
These table lamps can be placed in various strategic locations to light up their various corners.
Table or Floor Lamps and Uplighters can also be used.
The Life Aspiration Formula
Southeast Element - Yang Wood Money and Windfall luck | South Element – Fire Fame and Recognition luck | Southwest Element – Yang Earth Love and Romance luck |
East Element – Yin Wood Health & Family Luck | West Element – Yin Metal Descendants Luck | |
Northeast Element - Yin Earth Education and Scholastic Luck | North Element – Water Career Luck | Northwest Element - Yang Metal Mentor/Patriarch Luck |
Fame or Recognition
A suitable location to place a table lamp is in the South Sector where the aspiration is fame. Ideally, it should be a red lamp but it has other connotations when it can be seen from the outside. The other way is to have a red lampshade.
This lamp has red panels. You can get bolder, you can get red lampshades and a red base.
The other two Aspirations:
- Love and Romance Luck
- Education and Scholastic Luck
Lights (Table, Floor or uplighters) can be placed in these sectors to enhance these aspirations.
If Table lamps are used, use a ceramic base as this is of the Earth Element.
