Putney Bridge – Why is the Putney side so busy and Fulham quiet?

A few days ago, we travelled through Putney High Street, across Putney Bridge and to Fulham Palace Road.

After the stop and start traffic of Putney High Street with the hundreds of shoppers walking past the shops, it was all quiet on the Fulham side. I could not see anyone looking at the empty shops. They were walking along the road.

I thought about it and reasoned why.

Putney High Street

It is between the hill – Putney Heath and the River Thames. The energy comes down the Putney Heath hill to Putney High Street. This energy flow is stopped at Putney Bridge where the river is. All this energy is kept within Putney High Street.

Fulham High Street

There does not appear to be any significant flow of energy. The energy appears to be static. Hence, the poor business activity on this street. The land is flat and there is no significant movement of energy other than the movement of road traffic.
