The Feng Shui Consultant in London – London has a Wide Variety of Properties.

Aeriel View of East London – Feng Shui Consultant of London

London has a continuous history dating back to the Roman Times, some 2,000 years ago. London has always been a port and a thriving centre of commerce.

The Feng Shui Consultant in London knows how to handle properties that return to that age. Buildings built in different periods are dealt with differently.

The point I want to make is that the buildings in London have been built over a long period. Of course, there are more modern buildings than old buildings. This is because of the rapid expansion of London in the past 200 years.

1. London – the housing stock is old.

Old buildings have different architecture. Over the past centuries, various architectural styles have been in vogue. Newer materials are used with improved standards of construction.

Over time, the older buildings are adapted for modern life:

• Electricity cabling
• Plumbing pipes
• Central heating pipes and radiators
• Telephone and internet cabling
• Better insulation.

In old buildings, rooms were small because the heating was by coal or log fires.

With central heating, rooms got bigger.

Specialised rooms evolved – the bathroom, washroom, kitchen, living and dining room, and individual bedrooms.

2. Materials:

The older properties were built with local materials by available workers. Working in London was normal for workmen to come over from Europe. There was always work available in London as it was a prosperous city. However, at times, it had its problems.

In the 1920s and 30s, there was a building boom. London expanded massively outwards as the London Underground lines were expanded.

These radiated out from central London.

As there was so much demand, this led to the establishment of the local British building material industry on a large scale. This established the London Brick Company and window companies like Crittall.

Again, there was the post-war reconstruction boom, during which material was from what was available.

When I visit residences, the properties are usually renovated. The building materials are from all over the world. For example, Wood is from Southeast Asia, Africa, and South America.

Everything now I have noticed is international.

Now, there is a stricter standardisation of building materials emphasising Net Zero. Most building materials used currently have good heat-retaining properties.

3. London has a wide range of properties – size and price

The property in London is expensive.

London's most expensive house sold for £113 million and had a floor space of 26,000 sq. ft.

London's smallest house sold for £1.2 million and has 290 sq. ft.

The cheapest area in London is Barking and Dagenham, where the average price is £300,000.

This shows London's wide range of properties, but London's West End is the pinnacle of property prices. The primary area is Mayfair and Sloan Square. The secondary area is Knightsbridge and Chelsea.

A lot of the properties in the old part, like London's East End, have been refurbished. There is also massive amount of urban regeneration in London.

The regenerated areas are in Docklands, Battersea, Nine Elms, Wandsworth, South Bank, Greenwich, etc. Much of it is along the River Thames.

Then there are the areas in the west of London. The expensive areas are Mayfair, Sloan Square, Chelsea, Knightsbridge, Kensington, Holland Park, and Notting Hill Gate. Every time I go to these areas, a property is always being renovated. Home improvement is a London habit. From my observation, refurbishment occurs for every new family moving into a "new" property. They want everything their way.

However, within London's West End, there are also less expensive properties, including council flats. There is a wide range of properties.

As you go out to the suburbs, the type of properties change. There are more townhouses nearer the centre. Then, the further out, it becomes terraced and has semi-detached properties. These areas are occupied by the middle classes who are taking advantage of the commuting facility afforded by the London Transport Underground trains, which are quick and effective methods to transport them to their place of work.

These properties were mainly built in the 1900s to the 1939-1945 war. They have a very similar architecture, with stairs coming down the hallway from the upper floor. The property has small rooms throughout. Most houses I have been to have had large rooms created by taking down the adjoining wall of two small rooms to make one big room. More likely than not, an extension for a kitchen/diner will also be made. This increases the floor area of the whole house.

In the regeneration areas, the apartments are usually carried to a very high specification. It is literally designed so that no further work can be carried out; only interior decoration.

London has less tower blocks than most international cities with a high-density of population – New York City, Hong Kong, and Singapore. This could be the reputation of tower blocks being linked to council properties. With the push by the Government to build more residential properties, I can foresee more tower blocks being built. There is such a great demand for residential accommodation in London; this demand has to be satisfied.

4. Hidden problems.

London is an old city, and throughout history, the land has been used for various things.

Burial Sites:

In central London, there are many sites where bodies have been buried – for example, the great plague where bodies were just dumped in large pits because they did not have the labour to bury them individually as the number of bodies was just too great. A number of burial pits were uncovered in the preparation of London Transport's Elizabeth Line.

Hospitals

However, there are unmarked graves all over London that have been uncovered over time. Then, there can be pits of farm animals when there is an epidemic of livestock.

The NHS have been selling off unused hospitals and their land. There are two types of hospitals: physical hospitals, which have acute wards, and mental hospitals.

There were a significant number of mental hospitals in London and the outskirts. At one time, the authorities did not know what to do with the patients, so they were locked up in a mental hospital. Hence, the large size and the significant number of these hospitals.

In 1987, there were 75,000 beds in mental hospitals. In 2022, it was down to 25,000 beds.

Many of these sites have been used for residential accommodation. The past energy of these buildings and land remains, albeit a burial plot, death in a hospital or the confusion of a mental hospital.

Industrial Dumping:

London was an industrial area. There were many industries in London. There are also old gasworks, electricity power stations, and sewerage works. These have been documented. What is more sinister are the industries that have left the site with undocumented residue. You do not know what it is in the ground left behind.

Old Houses

You would not be able to know the previous history of the property. There could have been death, divorce or evil practices. This energy lingers in the property unless cleared.

There are some properties with the illness reputation. People who stay or live there get ill. The illness can occur in a stay as short as two weeks.

I have encountered this many times. I have provided a solution for my clients.

5. Common problems

In Inner London, space is limited. There is very room for the energy to flow easily. It is only through careful plotting of the energy flow that I can work this out for the client's benefit.

In the suburbs of London, townhouses, terraced, semi-detached and detached houses all have a very similar staircase and hallway configuration. They have to be handled with care.

The other issue is the location of the toilets and kitchen. You do not want to locate them in auspicious areas where it can damage your well-being.

Also essential to position beds on the upper floors. Inappropriate placement can affect your well-being.

The other issue in these properties is the three doors in the row. This allows the energy to flow out of the property "just too fast".

Property-Management

Dr Michael Oon – The Feng Shui Consultant in London

London is large and old.

London has a wide variety of properties, differing in age in various landforms.

To get the most out of a Feng Shui Consultation, the consultant must use a particular method to deal with that situation.

Dr Michael Oon uses energy tracing to deal specifically with any situation. As no two properties are alike, this method gives the client a specific and personalised solution.

The Energy Tracing method is handed down from a lineage Feng Shui practitioner to their selected students through verbal teaching and site visits. The established methods have been proven over the centuries.

Some consultants only use one method with all their projects. This is irrespective of the location of the property and landform. They carry out a one-size-fits-all solution.

Feng Shui has been practised for 4,000 years. The practitioners have used the energy of the land to provide solutions for their clients and with much success. Hence, the achievement of traditional feng shui.

Conclusion:

London is an old and large city. It has different residential properties in various styles, materials, and sizes.
