Dr Michael Oon - The Feng Shui Consultant
Dr. Michael Oon
At the request of readers, this post has been split up into smaller sections as it was found too long.
Based on my heritage, I know that the Chinese would only pass down the true practice knowledge to someone they trust. They are more interested in passing the practice knowledge to the next generation and not making money.
To find a true practitioner who was willing to impart their knowledge was the real challenge. The question was – who, when and where. With determination and grit, I found a true master. The story is narrated in this section.
2. My Training to be a Traditional Feng Shui Consultant
The training procedure was just like being trained as a Forensic Scientist at the Metropolitan Police. There was a selection procedure, training with the theory, supervised practicals, and apprenticeships with my Master before being allowed to practise. This process took about ten years as it was not only very thorough and rigorous but closely supervised.
This is very different from the courses presently being offered, where there are a few dozen sessions in the classroom and evaluations on essays or theoretical problems. There are very few practitioner courses with practical training.
3. My Values as a Traditional Feng Shui Consultant.
I learnt that the practice is for the people you use your services. The clients are the focus and priority, not you, the consultant. The focus is on their benefit.
All the details of clients are not disclosed unless the client chooses to do so.
4. Difficulties working with Ancient Chinese Feng Shui Texts
Throughout the history of Imperial China, the practice of feng shui was centred at the Imperial Court in Beijing (Peking). After the Chinese revolution, led by Mao Zedong in 1949, the Imperial Court was moved to Taiwan together with most of the Feng Shui Masters practised Traditional Chinese Feng Shui. It was these Masters and their teams who travelled the world to work on various projects.
Hong Kong was then a British outpost where researchers studied the ancient texts and published their interpretations. The information of feng shui in the West is mainly based on these publications. This is very different from the practice knowledge of the Feng Shui Masters who were based in Taiwan.

The tale of one man’s quest to work for his idol, the famed Argentinian Football Coach - Marcelo Bielsa – and how he achieved it
In March 2014, Diego Flores an Argentinian former semi-professional footballer and PE teacher flew to Ireland with the intention of learning the English language and meeting with the possibility of working for Marcelo Bielsa. Marcelo Bielsa is a legendary Argentinian coach who is highly respected and praised as the best in the world by two of the best football coaches working today. They are Pep Guardiola (a famed Spanish coach) and Mauricio Pochettino (a renowned Argentinian Coach).
From his base in Dublin, he went to Southampton to try his luck. He “bumped” into Mauricio Pochettino but had to go back to Argentina to replenish his funds. He returned to Dublin then to Marseille, where Bielsa was working. He managed to work as part of Bielsa’s scouting team in Marseille. The story goes on.
It is a very inspirational story of perseverance despite not speaking English and lacking funds.
Diego Flores managed to work for his “idol” Marcelo Bielsa for a few years in Europe.
There is an interesting point. Bielsa wanted to contact Pochettino but was not able to. Diego Flores could! Nobody in Bielsa’s team could understand how he could have this information!
It was his determination and perseverance that did it.
