I want to improve myself more. So tell me, does Feng Shui really work?

I have been working on my personal development – both body and mind for the past ten years. I have not heard about feng shui. Is it of any benefit to me?

Feng Shui is the Chinese system of land management. If you get the environment around you right, the benefits include better luck in your health, wealth and happiness.

Feng Shui started 4,000 years ago with the rise of Chinese civilisation. It was a body of knowledge on how to set up land dwellings where the inhabitants could live safely and prosper. This knowledge developed as the various states battled in the "period of warring states" (475 to 221 BC). The winning states attributed their success to their prosperity from this body of knowledge. That was how feng shui became firmly embedded in Chinese Culture.

As in all aspects of Chinese Philosophy, the mechanism of Feng Shui is the movement of Qi or Energy. The more accumulation of energy, the greater the benefits for people in the property.

Feng Shui is the Chinese understanding of the forces of nature. You are also, living in harmony with the natural environment. It is about reaping the benefits – these include improving your luck in the aspects of prosperity, health and relationships. Feng shui is mainstream in the Far East. Not only are houses designed with this Chinese system, but estates (both business & residential), shopping centres and cities.

Practical Examples:

I would like to give examples of people improving their lives with Feng Shui but I am not allowed to disclose the names and methods used. However, I can describe properties that have improved performance with the use of feng shui.

Shopping Arcades in Mayfair – There are three shopping arcades in Mayfair, London. The busiest is Burlington Arcade. The other two arcades, "Royal Arcade" and "Piccadilly Arcade" are very quiet, and at times, you can hear a pin drop.

Burlington Arcade gets a lot of energy from the flow of energy in Mayfair. The other 2 arcades do not get energy. Hence, the business activity is much lower.

Site Selection – Starbucks: the American coffee shop chain locate their businesses at street corners. In feng shui, the energy in these locations is ideal for coffee shops. In some cities in the US, there can be up to 3 Starbucks coffee shops at a street crossroads.

This is one of the pillars that helped Starbucks in its worldwide growth.

The street where you live:  You would notice that some houses, the owners would change regularly. Some depart because of the breakup of the family or because of financial difficulty. Others move out to a larger house because of improvement in the finances. These changes repeatedly happen to the same houses.

Different houses get differing amounts of energy and hence, different outcomes.

How can you benefit from Feng Shui?
