On a recent visit to the West End of London, I happened to notice 3 shopping arcades in the Piccadilly area.
Each arcade as its own characteristics but there was only one arcade that was stood out more than the others. It was busy both in the passage way and in the shops. That was Burlington Arcade, the longest and the oldest.
So, why is this Arcade busy whereas the others are not?
Burlington Arcade is getting more energy than the other 2 arcades. Cork Street faces Burlington Arcade; it supplies it with energy. Hence the activity in the Arcade.
A view from Cork Street the entrance to Burlington Arcade. The energy flows from Cork Street to the Burlington Arcade.
The other 2 arcades, Princes and Piccadilly Arcades do not have such a supply of energy and hence, it was not busy with shoppers.

Over the past months, there has been a “battle royale” between the 2 football clubs (Tottenham Hotspurs and West Ham United) in London for the right to use the London 2012 Olympics Stadium after the event,
In November 2010; 2 short listed bids were announced:
1. Tottenham Hotspurs together with AEG (owners of the successful O2 Arena)
2. West Ham United with the backing of Newham Council
The Olympic Park Legacy Committee decided in favour of West Ham United as the preferred bidder but Tottenham have applied for a judicial review of the process. This was subsequently turned down,
After the recent riots in Tottenham in August, the Mayor of London,, Boris Johnson has offered £8 million for the “regeneration” of the Club. This could end the saga of the battle of the Olympic Stadium but we shall see,
So, what is the feng shui of the Stadium like?
Well, the feng shui is not very good. It is the location being surrounded by rivers (moving water) with entry to the stadium by a number of bridges.
The Olympics event in the Stadium will be, without doubt, a success because of the huge publicity and expectation of the event.
It is a different situation with the day to day running of the football club as it is a business of achieving silverware (prizes). As shown in Arsenal Emirates Stadium, an established manager – Arsene Wanger with a history of success is having problems getting the silverware to the club, It this case, the problem would be in getting the club to the Premier League let alone silverware.
The real winner of this battle for the Olympics stadium is the club that does not win it. It will be a down-hill ride for the occupant of this stadium.

For many people who travel to London, they will notice a building creeping up the skyline, getting taller by the day. It is the Shard!
What is The Shard?
A triangular shaped skyscraper – 310m high with 87 floors. It will be the 45th tallest building in the world. It is being built across the river, south of the Financial District (The City of London). The tower is claimed to be a city within itself.
What are the Effects from this Building?
Of course, there is usual justification of increased capacity for London, jobs, hotel and office space.
A consideration of the wider effects on the city or the country has not been made. This blog post would like to present 2 points.
The Skyscraper as an Economic Indicator
A summary of the skyscrapers with related economic crises are:
1. Empire State building in New York (height 443 metres) was completed at the time of the Great Depression (1930-1933)
2. World Trade Centre in New York (height 520 metres) was completed at the 70s Stagflation (1972-1975)
3. Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur. Malaysia (height 452 metres) at the Asian Financial Crisis (1998)
4. Burj Dubai in Dubai (Height 828 metres) Global Credit Crunch (from 2008)
Further information was obtained from articles relating to Skyscrapers as Economic indicators – Forbes and Marketurbanism.
The Consequences of The Shard using Feng Shui methodology.
1. Within the building
The tower has a triangular shape and clad in reflective glass (also known as mirrors). This is indicative of arguments and disagreements within the building and the surrounding area.
This does not bode well for the tenants of the building.
2. The Shard in the South East of London
The solitary tower is located in the South-East part of Central London, in the London Bridge quarter. The only other tall building there is Guy’s Hospital. This would be very different had it been located in the City of London itself where there are a cluster of towers which include the NatWest Tower (Tower 42) and The Gherkin (30 St Mary Axe).
The consequence of this tower is to increase arguments in the area. Also, it will affect the communication or image of the country, people and the businesses. It is not a good sign.
The Feng Shui Analysis:
This solitary tower is a fire element. It is coming to the South East Area of London. The element of this area is wood. From the five element cycle, fire burns wood. Therefore, the tower disturbs the communication aspects of London. As London is the capital of the UK, it implies the whole of the UK,
What do I mean communications? The public image and perception of the UK. It is going to be troubled and poor. A good positive image of the UK has taken years or decades of hard work to foster. There will be more people required to work on the repair to the problems generated by the damage to this reputation.
Conclusion:
This tower does not bode well for London.
A sign of a prolonged recession continuing in 2012.
Also, the possible reputational change or damage for the brand UK and London.
